The
Certification Service of the Regulatory Council for the “La Mancha
Saffron” Designation of Origin Foundation is the monitoring structure
which guarantees the origin of the product and that it has been produced
according to the requisites established in the Terms and Conditions and in
the Technical Quality Specifications. Its operation is regulated by
Regulation EN– 45011 “General criteria relating to the Certification Bodies
who carry out Product Certification”.
The Certification
Service, through its System, establishes the requisites which saffron
suppliers must comply with (producers or packagers) if they are interested in
providing saffron with the La Mancha Saffron Designation of Origin, as well as
the certification procedure which guarantees that the supplier is capable of
controlling the production process and the quality of the saffron produced and
packaged as well as its origins (in the case of packagers), for the purposes of
ensuring that the certifications granted in accordance with this system are
fully valid and acceptable, both on a local level, as well as nationally and
even internationally.
The Monitoring
Body has a vigilance plan established which covers all the stages of the
commercial life of the product and which includes periodic inspections of the
premises and the taking of market samples for their analysis. In the event that
products are detected of a lower quality than that established, the opportune
measures will be taken, obliging the issuer to remove the defective product
batches from the market.
CONFORMITY MARK
OF THE LA MANCHA SAFFRON DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN
An enumerated
back label issued by the Monitoring Body guarantees that the saffron that
carries the designation complies with the requisites established in the Terms
and Conditions of the Foundation.
